Imagine: You walk into your bedroom door, but instead it looks like the storefront of a 1924 Woolworth’s. Your kitchen could look like a French soda fountain from the turn-of-the century. Your bathroom could be constructed in lavish art nouveau style with swirling mosaic floor tiles and custom, exotically-carved floral-motif built-in furnishings. Your in-home theatre could transport you back to the 1920s with an authentic period design evoking the grand movie palaces. And imagine if one wall of your house looked like the entrance to The Folies Bergere in 1926—on a smaller scale of course! The designs on these pages are just a very few samples of the things that I admire. Virtually all of them can be replicated for your project. In fact, with my ability to recreate and construct period styles, and with a sufficient budget, there is really no limit to what you and I can imagine and create together. Three of the images shown on this page are hand-painted mural and trompe-loeil designs in authentic period styles by my friends at the Walker-Davis Studio. It is through my associations with various additional craftsmen—structural engineers, architects, wood carvers, ceramicists, movie scenic painters and so on—that all of these fantasy projects can come to life.I don’t understand why people remodel houses to look same-old, same-old. Why not create a unique, custom, fantasy environment?
